As of 2025, the interest and participation in online learning among middle and high school students in the U.S. show notable trends. Approximately 80% of high school students are equipped with the digital tools necessary for online learning. Furthermore, around 75% of middle school students have access to the necessary digital tools for online learning. Student preferences between online and traditional public school settings are also showing a significant shift toward digital learning. Currently, approximately 70% of students prefer online learning due to its flexibility, cost savings, and convenience. 77% of students believe that online learning is superior to traditional classroom settings, too. These numbers reflect a growing comfort and confidence in online education, especially among middle and high school students.
